BUILDING BRAVE, CURIOUS CLASSROOMS
BUILDING BRAVE, CURIOUS CLASSROOMS
As an educator, I strive to create a classroom environment where curiosity, belonging, and intellectual engagement are the norm. My approach is grounded in Responsive Classroom principles and informed by my experience in various roles, including tinkering school collaborator, coach, support teacher, and associate teacher. These experiences have taught me to lead with empathy, plan with intention, and teach with flexibility.
I believe that effective teaching requires knowing students deeply: academically, socially, and emotionally. I work to build relationships that allow me to differentiate instruction, scaffold skill development, and respond to students’ individual learning profiles. Whether I’m co-planning a literacy block or facilitating a math discussion, I aim to design lessons that offer multiple entry points, invite critical thinking, and celebrate productive struggle. I want students to feel safe making mistakes and proud of what they learn from them.
At Marin Country Day School, I’ve seen how a strong classroom culture supports both student growth and academic rigor. I use consistent structures, reflective language, and student-centered routines to promote agency and collaboration. I model enthusiasm for learning, guide students in setting goals, and create an environment that fosters their ownership of their progress.
My goal is not just to help students succeed in school, but to help them become kind, curious, and resilient human beings. I’m committed to ongoing growth as a teacher and to contributing to a school community where equity, creativity, and joyful learning are central. As I move toward a lead teaching role, I’m eager to bring that mindset and that energy into my own classroom.
